Jim is a classical guitarist who studied privately with Nicholas Goluses, the then Chairman of the Guitar Department at the Manhattan School of Music. He has performed in Master Classes for internationally renowned guitarists David Tanenbaum, Hubert Kappel, and Raphaella Smits.Jim Tosone is a musician, writer, speaker, and commentator.
Jim performs with the J&B Duo on bass guitar, playing ‘60’s/’70s folk rock. He also performs with the Stephenson Tosone Duo on Irish tenor banjo and mandolin, playing Irish and Bluegrass music.
Jim is the author of the book Classical Guitarists: Conversations, published by McFarland & Co. He was also a contributor to the encyclopedia Music in the 20th Century and to the book Idiot's Guide: The U.S. Constitution.
Jim has written for newspapers (including the Sunday New York Times) and magazines (including The Toastmaster, Soundboard, and Guitar Review). He was a concert reviewer at Classical Guitar magazine, and a Contributing Editor at Guitar Review magazine.
Jim is an accomplished public speaker, who earned his Advanced Toastmaster Gold (ATM-G) and Competent Leader (CL) certifications from Toastmasters International. He speaks on a variety of topics.
Jim provides commentary on the public policy issues of the day through his blog and on social media. As the Liberation Party nominee, Jim ran for NJ Senate in 2017 and 2021, and U.S. House of Representatives in 2018.
Jim had a distinguished thirty-year career at Pfizer, the world’s leading pharmaceuticals company, where he held a number of positions, including Head of Pfizer Healthcare Informatics. After leaving Pfizer, he formed Tosone Associates, where he designed and conducted workshops for leading U.S. companies, helping them to enhance their innovation, collaboration, and communication capabilities.
